RidgeBridge Farm Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs
Our very first Swissy came to us from Shamrock Farms in 1993.
"Newt", CH. Shamrock Leader (1993-2005) became an important part of Swissy history by winning Best of Breed at the first AKC Greater Swiss Mountain Dog National Specialty in 1995. Newt went on to win a second National Specialty in 1997 and had over 100 Best of Breed wins in his show career, including several group placements and a Best Opposite and Award of Merit at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Newt sired 9 litters and more than 20 champions. Soon after Newt, Laura joined our family (CH. Laura Robertson, pictured below as Santa).
In 1995 we imported a puppy from Switzerland. That first import, CH. Fella vom Fusse des Oelirains, WWD, NWPD, ROM, VROM (1995-2008), earned the distinction of the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America's first Versatility Register of Merit Dam. She produced 8 champions including Regional Specialty Winners, National Specialty Awards of Merit, as well as twice winning the honor of National Specialty Brood Bitch. Newt, Faella and our other early Swissies were entered as foundation stock when the American Kennel Club accepted the GSMD in 1995.
Gretel vom Pierre-Pertuis was our second import from Switzerland, followed by 2 others imports which we co-owned. Over the years we have owned and co-owned many Swissies in addition to these first and early residents at RidgeBridge Farm, including CH.RidgeBridge Tupelo Honey ("Clancy"), CH. RidgeBridge Brown Eyed Girl ("Maida"), CH. RidgeBridge Full Force Gale ("Sam"), and CH. Derby Jotunheim RidgeBridge Hey Stella.
